200 Sessions Later

It is now August 2020, so about 200 sessions after my initial dialysis last year. Below a visual update about my AV fistula which is doing great and, luckily, not causing any problems. As can be seen, the vein is now significantly more prominent due to the blood pressure it is exposed to three time a week during the dialysis sessions. Aside from the actual AV fistula (near the wrist) the two sites for the arterial and venous access points are clearly visible. By now I am used the inserting of the needles and, thanks to the skilled nurses, the pain level is minimal (with exception of a few occasions).

With dialysis as a life-long prospect, I am wondering how much the vein will still enlarge and, more importantly, how long it will be able to do its job. Only time will tell...
